Sea Pines Resort, Hilton Head is also home to Harbour Town Golf Links.
Harbour Town's iconic lighthouse on hole18 is one of the most recognised scenes in golf.
Harbour Town is home to the RBC Heritage Classic, and has been since 1969.
We are scheduled to play this PGA Tour course on the last day that it is open prior to this year's Heritage Classic, which is played the week following the Masters.
If you have ever played a golf computer game, you have probably played Harbour Town.
The course opened in 1967, with Pete Dye as the architect with help from Jack Nicklaus.
The course can be considered as quite short by today’s standards of golf, but it requires shots that are perfectly positioned, arrow-straight accuracy, and consistency from the player. In fact, many of the holes are shorter than average, so professionals usually find themselves relying on their wedges to shoot low scores.
A customary tradition is that when a player wins the Heritage tournament (and usually on the eighteenth hole), the boats lined up in Calibogue Sound toot their horns to the winner.
